Doctor Who report! We finished S8 and we loved it, Twelve is great! This season started really strong for us, we loved “Listen” and there were many fun episodes!! sadly the “kill the moon” episode also happened and it was such a mess that we are going to pretend it never did lmao I’d rather talk about what I loved instead and that is Missy!! HELLO?? I always enjoy The Master so this was such a treat!! I love her I hope she comes back next season!! Clara’s and Danny’s character development on the other hand we didn’t enjoy as much and we felt it kind of went downhill since the moon episode but I’m curious to see where Clara’s arc is going from here. I love Capaldi so damn much!! Also the 60 anniversary special is coming out tomorrow and we are so excited!! 😭 I need to draw so many things about this show already but things keep getting in the way AAA I have a ton of deadlines, a few events to attend to and a trip on top of it all next week so I’m losing my mind but I will have some art and stuff to share soon I promise!! Doctor Who report!! We made it to the 12th doctor!! Just finished watching the specials up to 11th regeneration AHHH I’m so excited to meet him!! Looking back on all of 11th run we really enjoyed it, it started weak but it got better and we ended up loving Matt and his companions. We went into it scared that we wouldn’t enjoy it because of what we had heard about it on top of the writing style not clicking for us at times but that wasn’t the case! it had many good episodes and concepts explored! Ten is still our absolute favourite but Eleven was great!! I’m very hopeful for Capaldi, I also really love his face 😌
OHOHO we watched the first episode of S8 and we already love Twelve!!! He was so funny and soft and delightful and so handsome!! He is so good!! I’m also enjoying his dynamic with Clara more than I did with her and Eleven I think. AHHH love love I’m so excited!!

Doctor Who status report! Writing these I’m realizing I only ever feel compelled to share my opinions on media when they are positive lmao makes for rather boring commentary probably!! but I only care to share the things I love, I would be a lousy critic 😆
We are half way through S7 and I can say now that S6 was a big improvement from S5 for us! It was really fun! we have been rating every episode and keeping season average scores and S5 was the lowest we ranked so far out of all but it was still enjoyable honestly! Someone in the comments in one of my reports mentioned that each doctor’s first season is usually their worst one and I’m also noticing this! I think Ten’s first season was his lowest ranked out of his three for us too even though all his run was super high. Matt seems more comfortable in his doctor’s portrayal by now and he is also more goofy which I personally always love 🥰
S6’s arc had us terrified and puzzled the whole time it was very engaging!! and some of the episodes were devastating like “The girl who waited” and just everything about River Song always, The Silence creatures are so unnerving and cool and it had a ton of really classic episodes with great concepts. We were kind of disappointed with “the doctor’s wife” episode though I’m a bit mad about it because I feel it had some great ideas but the way some elements were handled ruined it for us (mainly the Tardis’s whole characterization and the Doctor’s reactions to the situation felt so flat and out of character it was weird) so much wasted potential! but overall it was a great season!
Then S7 so far we watched up to “The bells of saint john” and our favourite has been “The angels take Manhattan” we love the concept of the Weeping angels and this one was terrifying and back to their original lore! and the ending was so unexpected! We also met Clara and I love her too honestly I’m terrible at rating companions because I love them all I think they all bring something new and special to the story I end up loving everyone 😭 We have seven episodes left with Eleven ahhhh time to suffer another regeneration soon!!
About the writing I think as we watched we grew more used to the differences and they became less jarring, though when I think back to the RTD era I feel I loved it because of the writing while now I sometimes I feel that I love it despite the writing, if that makes any sense? I still do love it but it feels like wrestling with Moffat a bit! lmao. He gets a bit repetitive and too on the nose and ..weird about women and overly grandiose at times still but now we know to expect it 🤣
Also another unrelated observation but we feel that Eleven seems younger than Ten in many ways. I know their personalities are supposed to change and they are not necessarily linear but it’s something curious we both noticed! And Eleven is such a clingy soft little man!! baby!! very cute!! I love him I’m excited to see how the change to Twelve is going to feel!! I have no idea what to expect from Twelve I’m so curious!!
We are consuming this series so fast and we don’t want it to end!! 😭 I have such a gigantic backlog of art I want to make about it by now, I keep thinking of ideas as I go and I don’t have the time to draw them yet because of work!! AAAAA the moment I meet the last of my current deadlines it’s over for you all!!

Doctor Who status report! and from a couple other shows too because we are both head over heels in love with David Tennant and are watching all his body of work lmao
Alright so we finished DW S5 and are two episodes into S6 and I’ll say 11th has grown on me a lot since my last report! Matt is so cute! we enjoyed the episode “The Lodger” it had some of that feeling I was missing from the previous seasons I think, and the two final episodes of S5 were cool!! And S6 started strong with the first two-parter, we are…so confused but in a good way? It’s different and the writing quality wobbles but we are enjoying it very much nonetheless! I do feel like some of the values and handling of certain topics has been inconsistent since the writer swap so it feels a bit strange sometimes but it’s still early so we’ll wait and see! OH and the christmas special was so lovely!!
Then we also watched “Casanova” BBC 2005 miniseries for David and IT WAS SO GOOD honestly we were not expecting much and we both ended up crying lmao, it’s also so funny!!
And we also watched “Around the World in 80 days” 2021!! It may not be very loyal to the book but it’s great on it’s own and so adorable and fun and SO BEAUTIFUL!! the locations, the costumes!! David’s Phileas Fogg is the most loveable pathetic wet cat of a man just the absolute babygirlest I’ve seen him, this show was made for me I swear to god I was clutching my knees the whole season, please watch it!! I think it’s getting a second season inspired by Twenty thousand leagues under the seas? I hope it does 🥺
Oh and belated Happy Halloween!! I didn’t manage to draw anything for it this year but we did dress up as Edwardian vampires and went out! I think half of Madrid asked to take a picture with us and yet I didn’t take any good ones askjfh but it was so fun, everyone was so nice to us 😭 The weather also got very cold and rainy all of a sudden and we are elated!! it’s wool coat, gloves, hats and boots season again, I’m at my most powerful!!
Anyway I go back to drawing for now, hopefully I will be able to squeeze in some fanart and photos soon 😊

Doctor Who status report again! Alright we are half way into S5 and I have opinions to share! These were our fist impressions of the differences after the last regen!
It may still be too soon to judge but there was a noticeable tonal shift in the series with the change in writers. It feels like the writing is suddenly taking itself a bit too seriously, it’s moodier with less levity and humor in between. The banter feels more formulaic and often times too on the nose. The doctor also feels angrier, cockier, more self involved, which can be a great character arc on itself don’t get me wrong but I think with Ten there was this contrast between his goofy front and what’s underneath that made the switching so shocking and heart wrenching and I miss that! I’m also missing the reverence for life and optimism as the main driving theme I think? but again it’s probably too early to say! It’s also leaning a lot more on sex humor for some reason and I can’t say I’m a fan but that’s more of a personal choice. There is also a difference in the companion dynamic and arc that reads more YA but I’d have to watch more to tell. All this being said I feel it sounds harsh and like I don’t like it but I do! I feel Matt Smith is adorable and does a great job, I loved “The Beast Below” so far that’s been my favorite of this half of the season. I also think both Nicolas and I have such a huge bias towards Ten and DT in general that our judgement is compromised so take all of this with a grain of salt 🤣 we were really blown away by the first 4 seasons so it’s going to be hard to top but I stay hopeful and we are enjoying ourselves nonetheless. Now onwards to the second half!

the only way to real actual peace, safety, and security is through the complete liberation of the Palestinian people, not the continued maintenance of the current regime or the apartheid that led to this current moment in time. apartheid is inherently violent; oppression is inherently violent. colonialism is inherently violent. if YOUR ‘safety’ is dependent on the oppression, displacement, and murder of OTHER PEOPLE then your conditions are not and will never be safe.
